Defect allows you to build the ultimate ship piece by piece, from a single-pilot fighter to a space station the size of a small moon. Create devastating spacecraft capable of obliterating your foes, but keep in mind that your crew will defect, forcing you to face your creation in battle.

Offering unprecedented freedom of creation, players can build the most powerful ships in the galaxy with an easy to use building system. The game features hundreds of parts across three stylistic themes referencing a wide range of sci-fi culture.

Defect System Requirements

  • If you are already a previous version of Macro Defects in Steel on your computer, please Uninstall the previous version before installing the new version. Installation packages are available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux (Intel 32-bit).
  • Defect will run on the PC system with Windows Vista or later and upwards, but Windows 10 is recommended as Vista and 7 are obsolete operating systems. Additionally, there are also Mac and Linux versions.

The lowest GPU you can play it on is an NVIDIA GeForce 510. An Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 CPU is required at a minimum to run Defect. The minimum memory requirement for Defect is 1 GB of RAM installed on your computer. To run the game, you won’t need a great gaming PC. Any machine with an integrated GPU is sufficient. According to benchmarks made by the team behind Ascinc website, it’s recommended somewhere around 4 GB of RAM in your system. You will need at least 1 GB of free HDD space available (preferably SSD) in terms of game file size. Additionally, there are also Mac and Linux versions. Note that only Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and up are currently under active Standard Support. The same goes for MAC systems. Now, under the only active support is macOS 10.13 and up.

As a lowly captain on a dead-end planet, you must build a ship, complete a mission and wave it goodbye when your crew defects to the other side. Then design a new ship to hunt down those mutinous traitors in an endless cycle of punishment and revenge. Don’t make your designs too good, because odds are you’ll be fighting them pretty soon.

To determine if Mac OS detects your USB device, you need to open System Information on your computer to see if your USB device is listed under the appropriate heading or is listed with an error (for example, 'Device has not been configured'). Examples of appropriate headings for a USB video adapter include 'USBwithout the driver installed' or 'Graphics and Displays'. The USB device is displayed in System Information, under the name of the chipset. You can find the name of the chipset by navigating to https://www.startech.com/Support, searching for the product ID, and clicking the Technical Specifications tab.

To open System Information, complete the following:

  1. In the top-left of the screen, click the Apple icon.
  2. Click About This Mac > More Info > System Report.

If you install a new USB device and Mac OS does not detect it, you can complete the following tests to identify the issue:

  • Open System Information and disconnect the USB device from your computer. Wait a few minutes, and click File >Refresh Information. Reconnect the USB device. You should see a device disappear from System Information when you remove the USB device, and it should appear again when you reconnect it.
  • Connect the USB device to another USB port.
  • Connect the USB device to another computer.
  • Update the USB device drivers.
