I was running Catalina on my Mac but then without putting too much thought into it, Software system update notification suggestion kept staring at me to upgrade from Catalina to Big Sur. I went for the plunge.

The Big Sur turns out to be a really good deal and undoubtedly presents itself as a new page on a new chapter for the Mac OS.

Big Sur might freak you out a little bit because it imports a lot of elements and design features form the iOS. I find it pretty amazing because it breeds consistency across all devices leading to great user experience across board.
  • Let us start with what I really didn’t like:
    The 3D shadows on the icons. What’s up with that? I get that they were trying to use the same icons as iOS but the 3D shadows make it look a bit weird. Or is it just me? The iOS version is a simple flat design.
  • My Android Studio stopped working on Big Sur. Every attempt to try to get it to work failed. I had to create a different admin and go into a different environment to get it to work. Everything else worked perfectly well. I think that ends the list on what I did not find exciting. Now let’s get to the exciting granular details.

    Big Sur is finally called macOS 11 after more than 20 years of macOS 10. Apple believes it is the biggest improvement to the macOS since the macOS X edition.
